This WHS is located in the province of Misiones. It is centred on the Iguazu (Iguaçu) Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. In totality, it measures 80m high and 2700m in diameter, spanning the Argentine-Brazilian border. The surrounding sub-tropical forest is home to distinct and typical flora and fauna; the latter category include tapirs, anteaters, caimans, and jaguars. The Iguazu National Park is contiguous with the Iguaçu National Park in Brazil, which is a separate WHS.
