The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a tropical garden which dates back to 1859. Founded as a British colonial garden, it has today evolved into a tropical botanic garden, a botanic scientific institution, and place of cultural and horticultural conservation. It is only one of three - and the only tropical - garden listed as a UNESCO WHS.
