Built between 1745 and 1750, the Margravial Opera House in bayreuth was commission by Margravine Wilhelmine, wife of Federick, Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. The façade was designed by Joseph Saint Pierre while the interior was the work of Giuseppe Galli Bibiena. It changed the way opera houses were designed, foreshadowing the architecture of large public theatres of the 19th century, and is the only entirely preserved example of court opera house architecture.
